This upcoming week, Jersey Senior Weekly will be covering the upcoming 2026 New Jersey State Budget and the federal government’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”. Both pieces of legislation will have significant impacts to New Jersey seniors, and we will be breaking it down for you as details are finalized and signed into law.

In New Jersey, lawmakers worked late into the night on Friday as they worked towards the deadline of June 30th to get the budget passed. The budget did clear both the Senate and Assembly committees and a full floor vote is expected Monday, June 30th. Once the budget is signed by Governor Phil Murphy and released, JSW will provide comprehensive details on how the new budget affects you.

In Washington DC, the Senate worked through the weekend to hammer out the details of President Trump’s signature bill. There are many provisions within it that will affect seniors from tax rates, Medicaid, and other federal programs. There is no official deadline to pass the legislation, but President Donald Trump has indicated he would like to have it signed by Independence Day on Friday. JSW will also cover the details on the legislation once it is signed into law.
